In the Senior School, we provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all. We promote academic rigour and the rewards of endeavour, and aim to preserve the wonder of discovery and the richness that comes from developing an enthusiasm for life-long learning. We want to teach children how, rather than what to think in a friendly and welcoming classroom environment.
The senior school consists of Grades 9 to 12. These years are further divided into two phases of Grades 9 and 10 and Grades 11 and 12, which is the threshold to undergraduate studies. These four years require scholars to focus on specific areas of specialisation. Learning at this stage evolves into a more competitive effort and mentors recommend useful reading material, as well as supplementary texts.
Our curriculum offers the range of subjects which parents would expect to find in a traditional, yet forward looking school, and more besides. English, Mathematics and subjects from their chosen stream i.e. science, commerce or humanities form the core for all students, enhanced by the availability of learning support lessons for those with special educational needs. Able, gifted and talented students are encouraged to pursue their own interests alongside their studies and are supported with enrichment activities and our unrivalled co-curricular programme.
The importance of independent learning is central to our curriculum. Supervised sessions provide opportunities for self-led study, research, reading or completing preparation. For those needing a little extra help and support, each department provides tutorials when subject teachers are on hand to assist and give advice.
The school has flourishing Science, Modern Languages, Art and Music departments, as well as exceptional opportunities in Sport and further extra-curricular activities that support work in the classroom. A programme of personal and social education is also offered to broaden student’s views on contemporary issues and to induce tolerance, respect and understanding for the opinions of others.
Professional career counseling and advice on Higher University education, through the University Counseling Cell (UCC) is an important role played by the school at this stage.
The Senior School promotes intellectual curiosity. Through successes and challenges in a creatively stimulating environment, students demonstrate a growth mind-set, the ability to thoughtfully problem solve and reflect, and a desire to see the connections between their learning, their actions, and the world. The senior years advocates for emotional and physical wellness within a supportive and safe community that prepares students to understand and contribute to the global community. To reach this end, the Upper School strives to foster an environment where students feel empowered to self-advocate and develop their own paths.
We nurture students to become intellectually curious, creative, respectful, caring and discerning young adults, conscious of their responsibility to the community and their environment
