One of the most important functions of middle school is enabling scholars to develop and master their areas of interest. Scholars are taught how to harness their talents. The emphasis in these years is on logical and critical thinking. Exploiting the infrastructural advantages, such as libraries, multimedia rooms and laboratories plays a major role in this stage of development. We ensure access to all mediums that students may require to complete projects, conduct experiments and study concepts. Feedback and reviews are very important in any learning process and scholars are provided the same, thus enabling them to build on their performance.
The focus continues to be on a concept driven curriculum, where learners explore not just the What and How of facts but delve deeper into the Why and So What. Scholars are trained to become independent and shoulder the responsibility for their learning. They are equipped with skills to ensure critical thinking, independence in research, self- management, collaborative learning and expression, enabling them to be lifelong learners. To ensure that each scholar gets the requisite attention, we have a low mentor- scholar ratio and our faculty monitors each student’s progress through continuous assessments. These range from pre-knowledge evaluation to formative and summative assessments.
Exploration and discovery take center stage in Middle School.
The Middle Years, including grades 6 to 8, help to ensure successful transitions from Primary to Secondary. The programme is delivered through a thematic curriculum which offers inspirational learning experiences through cross curricular projects, cross phase learning and a challenging Mastery Approach. Meaningful links are made to the real world and students are encouraged to be independent learners and confident problem solvers. The Middle Years embrace student voice and support learners to become resilient, articulate and reflective global citizens as they move on to senior school.
In Middle School, teaching and learning occur against the backdrop of students’ incredible physical and social growth. Middle Schoolers take risks and try new things, learning through both successes and challenges.
Middle grades emphasize team teaching, varied student groupings, and hands-on activities. Our program is geared to meet the needs of our students, acknowledging and appreciating their requirement for structure and autonomy, as well as their desire for acceptance and success. Our strong arts, athletics, and guidance programs reinforce our academics and support a climate where our middle school students thrive.
Students develop essential skills through exploration, inquiry, reflection, and community service, and leave Grade 8 well-prepared for high school.
From the Middle School, the curriculum takes on a broader facet. It focuses on a subject-based curriculum using meaningful and rich assignments for accentuating learning experience. Middle School continues with the international teaching practices that are child-centric and activity based but expands to accommodate more scientific inquiry and explorations. It is an integrated curriculum that prepares the students to meet the requirements of the CBSE board examinations. The curriculum in Middle School comprises a wider range of subjects reflecting those required for the Grade 10 Board Examinations.
