Pre Primary School

Taking their first step into formal education, primary classes supports the children’s growing maturity, which is reflected in their more grown-up uniform and their appointment to one of the four School houses, encouraging the children to become more independent with their learning. Students of this age are constantly building their own universe of significance and it gives a structure that provides them support to be dynamic scholars and inquirers, while sustaining their fundamental aptitudes and requirements, giving a sound start to the continuum of discovering that will go ahead all through their essential years.

Predominantly taught by their class teacher, the children undertake more lessons with specialist subject teachers, for example in Languages and Computing, as well as Art and Music, in specialist classrooms. The breadth and challenge of the curriculum makes for a purposeful programme that is well supported by co-curricular activities.

The children are encouraged to produce work of the highest standard according to their ability and they are academically set for Hindi, English and Mathematics. Assessments are undertaken in most subjects at various points throughout the academic year.

The children also have opportunities to represent School in sporting fixtures against other schools, to perform publicly in drama and music and to prepare for residential trips in future years. Opportunities exist to develop musical, artistic and sporting interests through the activity programme starting from class 1 onwards.

In primary school, our goal is to develop life-long, self-reliant learners who can think critically, solve problems, and express themselves in a variety of ways.

Our primary school program gives students in Grades 1 to 5 a solid foundation in basic academics, as well as regular opportunities to practice and develop their analysis, evaluation, and critical thinking skills.

We capture their enthusiasm and excitement and channel it into a program that emphasizes learning, community involvement, and global understanding. We make learning intrinsically motivating and provide students with opportunities to lead, teach, interact, and learn by observing others. Students are challenged to achieve their highest potential.

During these years, our young learners become problem-solvers and critical thinkers in the traditional subjects – Language Arts, Mathematics, and Social Studies – and continue their exploration of French, Art, Technology, Music, Science, Drama, STEM, and Physical Education. Exploration and discovery are at the heart of our curriculum, which allows our students to develop initiative, flexibility, and independence.

The students find answers to the questions that come up as they discover who they are. They also learn the value of communication and cooperation as they participate in group activities, expand their interests, grow, and flourish while developing a love for learning and an appreciation for the connections between the disciplines they study.

During the primary school experience, students develop the character building skills such as independence and self-reliance necessary for smooth transition to Middle school and future success.
